About Us
We are a group of actors and musicians who live locally in the Blackpool and Fylde area who are committed to performing high quality productions of musicals at the beautiful Grand Theatre in Blackpool, one of the two remaining Frank Matcham theatres in the country.
We have been in existence as a company since 1950 during which time we have covered many, many shows, from the old operettas, like 'The Merry Widow', 'White Horse Inn', 'Pink Champagne' to the well-loved shows, like "Oklahoma", 'The King and I', 'Fiddler on the Roof' and '42nd Street'. We are very committed to keeping musical theatre live and for it to be a community activity. There is a great deal of talent to be tapped into on the Fylde Coast and a company such as ours provides a golden opportunity to display that wealth of talent.
Over the years we have won many awards for individual performances, company performance, excellence in music, choreography and production which is testament to our high standards and the quality of our members and production team.
The Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company worked, along with other local groups, to save the Grand Theatre, when it was threatened with demolition, by putting on a variety of performances and events to bring in funds to enable the theatre to be bought and reopened.
We are constantly looking for new talent in singing, dancing and acting. We will always welcome people who would like to give support as non-acting members as there are many skills required in producing a show on the scale that we aim for.
No show is complete without an audience and in effect that is an integral part of a production. Every company looks to its audience for support. Without it a show would be incomplete. Come along and be part of our company by supporting our productions as members of the audience.
